The Project in Puerto Plata of the Free Zone Park was one of the first to be conceived by the Dominican Government, aimed to encourage foreign business to create new facilities and, therefore, jobs for its citizens.

The Free Zone of Puerto Plata was created  by Law 38-63 of July 4, 1963

Early 70's an outstanding group of entrepreneurs from Puerto Plata made efforts towards the establishment of a unit to promote enterprises under the concept of Free Zone. In November 20, 1973, by Decree 4111,  a commission for the development of the Puerto Plata Free Zone was born with the primary objective of driving the efforts for the location and settlement of the manufacturing complex

In April 13th, 1974, through Decree 4522, the lot  of  256,739.77 Sq.Mtrs,  where the Park is located nowadays, was declared public utility land and  transferred by donation to the Free Zone through the Dominican Government.

In July 18th, 1974, the Free Zone of Puerto Plata was incorporated, through Decree 210.

In 1980, the Dominican Government provided the first resources for the establishment of the Free Zone, led by Corporación de Fomento Industrial  (Industrial Development Corporation). Starting date of operations:  March 11th 1983.
